Update

Hello all!

Things have been rather quiet here of late, and I haven’t posted often. Behind the scenes, wheels are turning, things are being done.

I’m working on a research project about a certain composer, Italian, 19th century. Here are some of the remarks made about him over decades:

– One of the greatest glories of Italian melodramatic theatre.
– An intellect whose works would suffice for the musical glory of a nation.
  • “Uno de’ più grandi compositori dell’epoca.” – One of the greatest composers of the age.
– One of the greatest musical writers of our age, and one of the greatest benefactors of melodramatic art
  • “In tutti i generi … – In every genre … the Titan of the present age. It seems as though he were piling mountain upon mountain in order to scale heaven.
– A maestro who does not write merely to make music, but to paint figures powerfully upon the dramatic canvas.
  • Immortale … gloria d’Italia.” – “Immortal … glory of Italy.”

Yeah. So there’s that.

I hope to resume reviewing soon.
